Sophie is a renewable energy engineer at specialty insurer AXIS. Sophie is part of a global team of engineers embedded in our renewable energy team that provide support to underwriters and customers for onshore and offshore renewable risks. She is also responsible for claims data analysis and supports the production of best practice guidelines for existing and emerging technologies.

A trained mechanical-electrical engineer, Sophie joined AXIS in 2024 bringing several years of experience in research and design consultancy fields. She previously was a researcher and teaching assistant in the Department of Engineering, Durham University. Her research focused on the design and comparison of power conversion systems for wind turbines, and she was an active member of the Durham Energy Institute. Prior to this she an MEP Engineer at AECOM. Sophie is a member of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) and Women’s Engineering Society (WES).
